Synthetic example · not client work or measured evidence
Sample prototype report
For engineering owners agreeing test evidence and a handoff decision.
Scenario: a fictional document-sharing SaaS application. Scope includes one application, its service connection, and its identity dependency. All owners and evidence below are illustrative; no customer system was inspected.
Question and proposed environment
- Question
- Can an officially supported candidate for CONN-01 meet agreed interoperability, resource, failure, and recovery criteria? No candidate or production design has been selected.
- Environment and version record
- Proposed: two isolated test services and synthetic documents. Record client, server, OS, crypto library/provider, protocol profile, configuration, and hardware versions before execution. All values are unrecorded; supplier support is unverified.
- Baseline and acceptance
- Baseline not measured. Record existing behavior under the same workload. Customer owners must agree latency, resource, compatibility, and recovery thresholds before testing; no numeric threshold is invented here.
Planned test matrix · all not run
- T-01 · interoperability
- Not run. Exercise each agreed client/server pair; record actual negotiation and expected authentication. Evidence: configuration and sanitized logs. Acceptance: all required pairs behave as agreed.
- T-02 · performance and resources
- Not run. Compare latency, throughput, CPU, memory, and message size with the recorded baseline under the same workload. Acceptance: owner-approved budgets, still to be agreed.
- T-03 · failure and fallback
- Not run. Test unsupported peers and interrupted connections within the authorized laboratory. Acceptance: observable failure and fallback behavior conform to the agreed policy; no silent policy-violating downgrade.
- T-04 · recovery
- Not run. Rehearse restoration of the approved configuration and inspect trust and data compatibility. Acceptance: recovery meets the agreed procedure and budget; document irreversible changes.
Results and decision format
- Result record
- For every test record ID, versions, workload, expected behavior, observed behavior, evidence reference, status, and limitations. All observed values are absent; all tests are not run. No pass or performance claim is made.
- Decision gate
- Current decision: defer execution until support, environment, and criteria are agreed. After real tests, the engineering owner records proceed, revise, or stop with reasons and residual risks. A laboratory pass would not authorize production.
